1969 Pontiac Firebird

350 c.i. 2-barrel with Automatic Transmission

I have owned this car about 13 years. I have clear title. The car had been sitting for about 11 years before I got it in late 1994 in Pennsylvania. I took about a year and a half restoring it to daily driver status after some kid totaled my Subaru and I didn't want to drive a boring sedan. (I have a few other fun things.) I replaced all the floor boards, new carpet, rebuilt the brakes, new rear springs, new alternator, patched the body (which was in good shape) with mostly steel. I welded in some steel in the rear quarters and put bondo around the rim of the wheel wells. (You can see in the pictures where the rust is popping through, again.) The car was painted Chrysler Viper Yellow in 1996. The interior was in really good shape when I got it, but it is almost 40 years old and it is aging.

I also replaced half of the bushings between body and front sub-frame and have the remaining bushings for you to install, when necessary. I also have the original chrome side-strips that go down below the doors along the entire length of the car. (They are in good shape but not perfect.)

The only reason I'm selling the car is I'm moving to a house with a smaller garage (I have 7 spaces now) and I'm looking for a '69 convertible to do the restoration, rather than the hardtop.

The car is really solid. There is some lifter noise and the transmission and power steering unit leak a bit, but it runs and drives well. With the 2-barrel carb it's not the meanest machine on the street, but it's a great project.
